Seger | MD has a weight loss program designed specifically for both adolescents and for adults!
Seger | MD’s Weight Loss Program is a comprehensive, holistic, and innovative approach to help patients lose weight, improve their health, and maintain their healthy weight goals through a combination of consultation, medical treatment, and practical advice.
Most always, you will meet 1:1 with Dr. Jenny herself. She will get to know you personally, gathering a detailed history of your life’s journey to the current date. She is not only interested in your medical/health history but will dive into current and past eating patterns, physical activity both past and present, sleep patterns, stress levels, hormone status (if applicable) and just more about your day to day life so she can better understand challenges in your life. You will also discuss any goals you have already set and together, you will come up with an initial gameplan. From there, she will make some specific recommendations. This appointment will take approximately an hour and you will leave with your questions answered, clear next steps, and all your options to consider!
New patient consultations for general and bariatric surgery are typically available within the same week! The next step is to request a new patient appointment by filling out the form on the Surgery page.
For our Medical Weight Management program, the wait time can vary depending on when our next New Patient Seminar is scheduled. These are held once monthly currently and typically after attending that, the initial consultation is within 2 weeks.
Absolutely! Telehealth is a vital necessity in our modern era of medicine. While we do insist that patients come into the office for their visits, on average every 3 months so we can assess body composition, we are happy to support visits using telemedicine. Of course, patients would need to understand that sometimes it is their insurance company who limits telemedicine. Additionally, the state of Texas does require in-office, face to face visits regularly for the prescribing of controlled substances and some of the Anti-Obesity (weight loss) medications are considered controlled substances.
The initial progress fee includes the following:
Sometimes. While meal replacements are part of a customized weight-loss routine for some patients, they are not universally used or recommended in our Weight Loss Program.
Initially, visits occur every month to ensure your weight loss goals are being met on time and safely. Once you begin to make your weight loss goals, your visits may become more spaced out though you will need to make periodic visits to our office to ensure that you are losing weight in a healthy and safe manner.
Patients who actively engage in the program typically lose 15-25% of their starting body weight.
No! Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are NOT FDA-approved. Compounded versions of these medications are created by compounding pharmacies and do not have the same rigorous standards as other medical therapies.
Yes, we are currently contracted with Cigna, Humana, Medicare, Tricare (not PRIME) Aetna and BlueCross BlueShield. We should be in network with United Health Care by August 2024. We can utilize patients’ insurance for any and ALL surgical evaluations and appointments; however, our medical weight loss program is a hybrid model where there is an initial upfront program fee of $500. For follow-up visits, patients can use insurance when seeing the Nurse Practitioner but will pay $150 for follow-up visits with Dr. Jenny as she is not contracted with insurance companies. We do not accept insurance for our Direct Primary Care membership.
Our Initial Medical Weight Management Program fee is $500 for Adults and $400 for Adolescents. This program fee covers quite a lot including: 90 minute New Patient Interactive Webinar; 60 minute initial in office evaluation; initial Dietitian Webinar; baseline EKG; and 2 state of the art body composition analyses. The first step is to schedule a free intro call with our patient coordinator.
No. Anti-obesity medication is very rarely covered by insurance. Cash pay prices (when insurance does NOT cover Anti-Obesity Medicine) vary widely from as little as $15/month to as high as $1000/month for high doses of the GLP-1 medications such as semaglutide and tirzepatide in their name brand forms only.
