With over 20 years’ experience and over 2000 surgeries performed, Dr Mickey Seger has provided expert care to Texans since 2004. A native of Lubbock, Dr. Seger earned a B.A. in Zoology from the University of Texas at Austin. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and he completed his surgical residency at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery under Dr. Philip L. Leggett at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston.
In 2004, the Segers moved to San Antonio. Dr. Seger joined New Dimensions Weight Loss Surgery and served as president in 2007.
Dr. Seger co-founded an Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery fellowship training program—Minimally Invasive Surgeons of Texas fellowship in San Antonio.
Dr. Seger has served in several leadership roles within the field of bariatric surgery, including bariatric surgical societies at both the state and national levels. He is a past president of the Texas Association of Bariatric Surgeons, has served as Chief of Surgery at the Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital in San Antonio, and chaired the Access to Care Committee for the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
Dr. Seger is a member of multiple medical societies and a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery with a focus practice designation in Bariatric Surgery.
He is blessed with an amazing family and is so proud of his wife of over 20 years, Dr. Jenny Seger, and their 5 children. Dr. Seger enjoys fishing and his Texas Longhorns.
